Inter-district robber nabbed

GUNTUR: An inter-district robber, who allegedly committed various offences in Guntur, Krishna and Visakhapatnam districts, has been arrested by the Crime Control Station sleuths here.

The stolen property recovered by the police was worth Rs.6.53 lakhs. It includes 66 sovereigns of gold, 3.5 kg of silver and four motorcycles.

Presenting the accused person Kolusu Sriramulu and receiver of the stolen property Sk. Kalesha before the media on Monday, Superintendent of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha said that Sriramulu, who used to work as hotel supplier, had a long history of crime. He even had a Dossier Criminal (DC) sheet opened against him at Repalle police station.

He allegedly committed number of offences at Tenali, Repalle, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Gudivada and Guntur.

A habitual offender, his modus operandi was simple. He used to target houses in secluded areas when the inmates were away and used to break the lock under the cover of darkness. Before he committed any burglary, he used to steal a motorcycle and sell it off after the job is done.

Sk. Kalesha, a small-time cotton trader from Vatticherukuru mandal, used to act as receiver of the stolen property and trade it with jewellery shops.

The police recorded 16 cases of house-breaking at Pattabhipuram, Arundelpet, Old Guntur, Tenali, Patamata in Vijayawada limits, Gudivada and Vuyuur in Krishna district.

The SP complimented CCS Inspector Narahari, Arundelpet Crime DSI K.V. Narayana and Pattabhipuram DSI C.V. Prasada Rao and announced rewards for other police personnel.
