Five killed as van collides with auto

VIZIANAGARAM: Five persons, including three of a family, were killed when a van and an auto collided head on at Pedamanapuram in Dattirajeru mandal on the NH-43 in the wee hours of Monday. The van was on its way towards Vizianagaram from Jiyyammavalasa and the auto was going towards Bobbili.

The auto that was dragged to a distance was crushed between a tree and the van killing M. Eswara Rao (45), his wife Usha Rani (40) and son Praveen Kumar (10) of Palle Veedhi in Bobbili town, Peda Appala Swamy (55) of Komatipalli in Dattirajeru mandal and R. Rama Naidu (37), truck driver of Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu on the spot.

The driver of the ill-fated auto K. Gavaraju was admitted to K.G. Hospital in Visakhapatnam where his condition was stated to be serious.

The van driver Ch. Shankar and cleaner D. Sankar escaped with injuries.
